The Penn State Pro Day drew scouts from every NFL team, not shocking given the Nittany Lions strong season in the Big Ten in 2016. And as such, the New York Giants and the New York Jets were well represented at the event.
The Jets, who took former Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg in the second round of the NFL Draft last year, had two scouts on hand with a source saying that national scout Lee Gissendaner was among those sent by general manager Mike Maccagnan.
Stephen Devine, one of the longest tenured scouts within the Giants system, was also present in Happy Valley on Thursday for New York’s NFC team.
And Hackenberg, the Jets second round pick last year, was also in attendance to watch his old teammates at Penn State.
Sources also said that both the Giants and Jets had scouts at the Illinois Pro Day on Thursday as well as both teams having reps at the James Madison Pro Day this past Wednesday. Also this past Wednesday, area scout Dom Green of the Jets - responsible for the southwestern part of the country - was at the Arkansas Pro Day, per a source.
In addition the Giants sent two scouts, Marquil Pendleton and Donnie Etheridge, to check-in on the Razorbacks.
