Manhattan restaurant serves skate… on a skateboard

Talk about losing your lunch. The Rooftop at Hotel Chantelle has just added skate to its menu, and it comes on a skateboard.

The restaurant opened a second location in London over the summer, and the dish was initially unique to that location, hence the Union Jack flag design on the board, according to a rep for the restaurant. Executive chef Seth Levine recently decided to bring it to the NY brunch menu as well.

The Skate & Chips is fried skate served with thick-cut fries, tartar sauce and malt vinegar.Setting aside the fact that cod is the only proper protein in fish & chips, reactions on@WeWantPlates, a Twitter account that documents unusual tableware, ranged from “absolutely shocking” to simply “gross!”
