Inside Look: Five NYC rentals that cost over $30K per month

We all know the rent is too damn high — but these apartments take that statement to a whole new level.

For those lucky few who can shell out tens of thousands of dollars per month on a New York City apartment, the smart move would be to buy in this typically strong real estate market.

But for those looking for temporary stays, such as celebrities, high-end rentals are the way to go — as some come furnished and include hotel amenities.

Here are five upscale rentals that may cost more than you make in a year, but provide the jetset with plenty of space, prime locations and even a grand piano.

4 Centre Market Place, Nolita
$35,000 / month

Though this downtown home offers 5,000 square feet of indoor space, it’s the six outdoor spaces that shine. They include a courtyard movie theatre with a 120-inch projection screen near a fire pit, and Jacuzzi-equipped roofdeck. There is also a dine-in wine cellar in the three-bedroom, four-bathroom townhouse. The owner is also offering a driver with this short-term, furnished rental for an additional charge.

114 East 32nd Street, Murray Hill

Described by a Citi Habitats spokesman as “perfect for celebrities in town for a part, new high-profile divorcees or those whose permanent home is undergoing a renovation,” this Murray Hill rental is available for one month to a year. The three-bedroom duplex features 1,829 square feet of indoor space, with 1,450 square feet of outdoor space and views of the Empire State and Chrysler buildings. But there is more to this luxury rental than the unit. Residents can use the buildings hotel-style amenities, including a fitness center, indoor lap pool, Turkish bath, room service and housekeeping.

Short- and long-term leasing is available at this notable address that even had Winston Churchill as a former resident. Renters will find old-school decadence inside this two bedroom, two-and-a-half bedroom suite. Residents are offered onsite car service, 24-hour room service, complimentary breakfast, daily maid service with turndown, and discount pricing on spa services, which can be requested to the residence.

According to its listing, the triplex “is one of the largest residences to ever become available in New York City.” The ceiling heights range from 10 to 25 feet, with large windows and multiple skylights.
