For New Yorkers who never cook, the longtime hack is storing out-of-season clothing in the oven. Other cheap solutions for lack of closet space include under-bed storage, fabric wardrobe closets and renting outside storage space. But the fact remains that for many residents of the five boroughs there never seems to be enough closet space — especially in this fashion-forward city.
There are the lucky few, however, that don’t need to move to the suburbs to find the walk-in-closet of their dreams. Here are three apartments with plenty of room for a massive wardrobe and more. This three-bedroom, three-bath condo located at the Grand Beekman and listed for $3.1 million, has “abundant closet space,” according to its listing. That space includes California closets and a custom designed walk-in closet in the master bedroom. There is also a Juliet balcony in the master bedroom with floor-to-ceiling glass doors. “Tremendous” doesn’t even begin to describe the size of the master closet in this West Village loft. The space could easily be mistaken for a bedroom if it wasn’t for the built-ins.
Its size is no surprise, as the $30,000 a month rental is 3,200 square feet and takes up a full floor. The four-bedroom home is “peppered with closets” and also includes 12-foot ceilings, a key-lock elevator, terrace, Juliet balconies and formal dining room. At more than 2,800 square feet, this Greenwich Village home has the complete master suite. It includes a step-down bedroom, fully outfitted walk-in closet and bathroom with radiant-heated floors.
One of the additional bedrooms features a sliding wall that doubles as a projection screen. The building’s amenities include cold storage, private storage, a resident’s gym and energy efficient design featuring emergency generator, filtered fresh air and water.
