Kyle Flood is in deep doo-doo, so the popular narrative goes after a report fromNJ.comthis week indicated that the Rutgers football head coach might be in hot water over contact he had with a professor concerning a grade for one of his players. But the hot water might be cooling off a bit says one source, who said the popular Rutgers head coach will not lose his job.
The strongly sourcedNJ.comstory said that Flood could possibly be suspended or fired for an "atmosphere of compliance" when he reached out via his personal email account to inquire of a professor about cornerback Nadir Barnwell, who is currently ineligible to play due to grades.
The investigation into Flood is still ongoing but one source with familiarity of the investigation said that "all signs point to Kyle not being suspended or certainly not terminated."

"His job is not in jeopardy," the source said.
Now in his third year at Rutgers, Flood has helped stabilize the program after the departure of Greg Schiano to the NFL. This year he is solidly building one of the better recruiting classes in the Big Ten, this after an 8-5 record last season and an impressive bowl blowout win over North Carolina. But the recent allegations, according toNJ.cominvolve Flood being investigated for the email which came from his personal email account.
The source did not deny anything with regards to the report only to again reiterate "Kyle will not be fired or suspended."
The story was leaked, a source tells Metro New York, from a member of the university's administration who has ties with the athletic department but is not a part of the athletic department. The apparent desire to leak the information, the source said, stems from this individual's bitterness over not receiving a specific job in the athletic department and his desire to give "another black eye to Rutgers."
