After the execution slaying of two New York Police Department officers on Saturday, Jets center Nick Mangold showed his support for the embattled department prior to his game on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
Mangold walked into the stadium wearing an NYPD hat, which he also held over his heart during the pregame national anthem ceremony. Mangold , who has shown similar displays on gameday near the anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, solemnly walked into the stadium with his teammates as part of their pregame routine.
Metro New York got the exclusive photo (above).
On Twitter, Mangold does not shy away from patriotic statements. He also campaigned for Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate, during the 2012 election.
