Suspect arrested in East Harlem screwdriver assault

The attack was caught on surveillance video.

Police have arrested a man who allegedly asked a woman how she was doing before stabbing her with a screwdriver.

Ryan Watson,31 has been arrested in the attack and charged with second-degree assault, police said.

The incident, which was caught on surveillance video, happened inside of 161 E.110th St.in East Harlem at about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday just blocks from where Watson lives, according to authorities.

The suspect approached the victim, 58, while repeating “How are you doing, Miss,” then stabbed her with a screwdriver in the right thigh before fleeing eastbound on 110th Street, police said.


Authorities said the woman, who was a social worker in the building, also suffered small lacerations in the attack. She was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition.
