Man dies from gunshot to head in East Harlem: NYPD

A Queens man died early Sunday morning after he was shot in East Harlem, according to police.


The victim, Steven Vasquez, was shot at an apartment building located at the Wagner Houses on East 124th Street in Harlem just after 2 a.m. Sunday morning, police said.

Officers said they arrived to find the 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS transported the victim to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.


A 22-year-old male was taken into police custody. Police said the man, who was not named, is a person of interest.
