A New Jersey man died on Sunday after an SUV struck him while he was crossing an Upper East Side street.

Wesley Mensing, 27, and Erin Sauchelli, 30, were crossing Lexington Avenue at East 62nd Street when a Mercedes Benz SUV hit them at around 7:18 p.m. on Saturday.

Paramedics rushed the pair to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

Mensing, who lived in Scotch Plains, New Jersey and was recently recognized as one of the country's best young golf instructors, died from severe head trauma.
