A man attempted to rape an intoxicated young woman who had passed out on a Lower East Side street, reports said.

The suspect was talking to the 21-year-old victim near Suffolk and Stanton streets at about 3 a.m. on Wednesdaywhen she became unconscious, sources told DNAinfo.

He then took off his pants and underwear and laid on top of the woman, police said. The suspect fled when a passerby spotted the attempted rape and yelled at him.

The victim was taken to Beth Israel in stable condition, where she was treated and released.

Police describe the suspect a black male, 40 to 45 years old, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, 180 pounds, with black hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and black pants.
