Manhattan’s new all-weather rooftop bar Lovage has the views you want

Manhattan’s first new rooftop bar of the 2017 season has arrived.

Lovage Rooftop & Indoor Lounge soft-opened at 350 W. 40th St. last month, and now it’s ready to make a full debut. Perched on the 37th floor, the lounge has a fireplace, glass roof and 17-foot floor-to-ceiling windows, which offer a rare 360-degree view of both the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty.

Once the weather warms up, glass panels will slide away to allow access onto an outdoor patio that wraps around from the building’s northeast to south sides — but you know what the Hudson River looks like. Lovage’s menu of refined light bites and finger foods was created by chef Alan Wise (Rouge Tomate, Juni).

“We envisioned the idea to fuse elegance and comfortability with the splendor of Midtown Manhattan as our backdrop,” says Ric Addison of Addison Hospitality Group, whose previous projects include the Monarch and the Time Hotel’s chic Inc Lounge.

Also opening on the hotel’s ground floor is Magnolia Restaurant, the latest from restaurateur Jeff Lam, most recently of the well-received Chinese Tuxedo in Chinatown. The menu for the modern bistro was also created by Wise, serving contemporary American food like tuna ceviche, fried octopus and lamb loin with quinoa salad.
