Former Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte will sign with the New York Jets, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Schefter broke the news an hour before the official start of the 2016 NFL season.
Forte was arguably the biggest name on the free agent market and he gives the Jets instant credibility in the backfield. With fellow former Bear Brandon Marshall coming off, arguably, the best season of his NFL career - the Jets' offense should be more formidable than it has been in years.

Forte has rushed for over 1,000 yards five times in his nine-year NFL career. He is also considered an exceptional threat in the passing game as he had 102 receptions just two seasons ago in Chicago.
