A mother of 7 was found dead with her throat slashed sitting on a park bench in Brooklyn Thursday morning, police said.
Police said Sharon Wingham, 51, was found around 4:30 a.m. on W. 9th Street in Red Hook, according to a 7ABC news report. She reportedly lived nearby on Columbia Street.
No weapon was found at the scene, and police are still investigating the circumstances of her death.
“She was really a part of the community,” one resident told the New York Daily News. “So, it’s shocking initially, but once that wears off it’s really just sad.”

“A lot of family members and they’ve been in Red Hook for years,” another told 4NBC.
It’s not clear whether Wingham was killed at the bench or whether her body was moved there after the crime, according to the Daily News.
