Any New York City firefighter who wants to hang a photo of President-elect Donald Trump in their firehouse or truck is being asked to refrain from doing so by FDNY officials.

A memo was sent out this week asking firefighters to “remain out of the political scene and out of the political field,”the New York Post reported. The note stemmed from complaints received about a truck from Engine 276 in Brooklyn, which had a Trump mask on its front, sources told the Post.

“Only [the] FDNY wouldn’t want the democratically elected president of America hanging in a firehouse,” one firefighter, who asked to be anonymous, said. “The firehouse is supposed to be a symbol of America. That’s hard to believe when you can’t post a picture of the president.”

Some firehouses have displayed pictures of presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, sources said. But now, “posting of these materials is not in compliance with Regs,” according to the memo.

“The message was a reminder of the importance of following the protocol and regulations within a work environment,” another source said.
