NYPD asking for public's help to find attempted rapist

The attack happened in the stairwell of a Brooklyn apartment building.

Police are asking for the public’s help to find a man wanted in connection with an attempted rape that took place in the stairwell of a Brooklyn apartment building.

The 26-year-old victim entered the apartment building at 1308 Loring Avenue and entered the stairwell, passing an unidentified man who entered the building from the third floor hallway.

Police said the man allowed the woman to pass, and then grabbed her from behind put his hand over her mouth. He then forced the woman to the ground, sexually assaulted her and tried to rape her.

The man then removed $100 from the victim’s purse and ran away down the stairwell.The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital for treatment.
