An off-duty police officer was killed Monday afternoon in a motorcycle accident in Brooklyn.

Police have not yet released the name of the 35-year-old officer, who was riding his 2008 Ducati bike south on Rockaway Parkway between Avenue J and Flatlands Avenue around 7 p.m. when he slammed into the side of an SUV that was making a U-turn.

The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike, and responding officers found him unconscious and unresponsive in the road. He was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.

The SUV driver, a 28-year-old woman, was treated for neck and back pain at Kings County Hospital. Two three-year-old boys riding in the back seat were not hurt, police said.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.

The fatal accident came just hours after NYPD Officer Brian Moore died after being shot in the head by a convicted felon two days earlier.
