The non-custodial parents of a 10-year-old girl have been arrested after one of them took her out of a Lower East Side school without permission earlier this week, police said.

Jaqueline Hendricks, 39, and Carlos Hicks, 42, have both been charged with custodial interference in the the abduction of their daughter Celine Melanie Hicks. Her father has also been charged with aggravated harrasment after making threats over the phone during the time his child was missing, according to authorities.

Hendricks is accused of taking her daughter from Castle Middle School at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday. An Amber Alert was later issued for the girl on Thursday morning, when she was believed to have been with both her parents, neither of which have custody.

The alert was canceled around 2 p.m. that day. Celine was found safe and sound after the parents contacted police through a lawyer and they turned themselves over to authorities.
