Police officer in Queens expected to survive self-inflicted gunshot wound: NYPD

The police officer that was shot in Queens on Friday afternoon is an off-duty lieutenant who suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, a spokeswoman for NYPD said. He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

There is no other information available, the spokeswoman said.

NYPD confirmed earlier that the officer was shot in the 111th precinct which encompassesBayside, Douglaston, Little Neck, Auburndale, Hollis Hillsand Fresh Meadows.
