Robber’s shotgun jams during Upper East Side stickup

A robbery didn’t go as planned for the man who tried to hold up an Upper East Side deli Tuesday morning.

The suspect entered Elim Deli Cafe on Lexington Avenue near E. 64th Street just after 8 a.m. holding a shotgun and demanding money, police said. He racked the firearm several times, but it apparently jammed, and he fled northbound on Lexington before grabbing any property.

There were no reported injuries in the robbery.
