If there’s a street in New York City that still nurtures the grungy idealism of the creative people who move here with dreams as lofty as the rent they pay to live in squalor while achieving them, it’s the stretch of Avenue A that runs through the East Village.
And it was at the Pyramid Club on Tuesday night that Stoli Vodka kicked off its ScenesbyStoli national tour celebrating the venues and neighborhoods teeming with the best of nightlife, hosted by Professor of the Party Andrew W.K. Lady Bunny and Andy Rourke of The Smiths took turns DJing at what has been a haven for influential punk, rock, drag performers and artists since 1979 — which is also as long as Stoli has been behind the bar.
Before you swing by and check out the next up-and-comer (Madonna, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana have all graced the Pyramid stage), pre-party with this not-too-sweet version of the Moscow Mule made with Stoli’s new ginger beer.
