The Sheraton New York hotel in midtown is undergoing stability checks of its exterior steel panels after debris fell to the street late Sunday night, causing the closure of Seventh Avenue.

Police told Pix 11 that two 4-by-8-foot panels fell from the hotel’s 46th floor came loose and fell, landing on two parked cars below. No one was hurt in the incident.

High winds could be to blame for the panels coming loose, a related ABC report stated.

Seventh Avenue between 52nd and 54th streets remained closed for the Monday morning commute, Pix 11 added.

The Buildings Department will evaluate the building’s facade to determine its structural integrity, ABC added.
