Running back Shane Vereen, a classic pass-catching back, is expected to sign with the New York Giants, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, though Yahoo!'s Rand Getlin reportedly later in the afternoon that the Patriots would have an opportunity to match New York's offer.
Vereencarried the ball 96 times for 391 yards and two touchdowns for the Patriots in 2014 but he did legit damage in the passing game, catching 52 balls from Tom Brady for 447 yards and three touchdowns.
Vereenhas never been a featured back in the NFL, as he often split time with StevanRidley and LeGarretteBlount in New England.
