Shootings, violence, spike over weekend

Nine people were reportedly shot in six shootings in Brooklyn and the Bronx in a Saturday night crime wave, but none fatally, the Daily News reported.

A police spokeswoman said the total number of weekend shootings would not be available until Monday morning.

In Queens, a man was stabbed to death early Sunday.

Officers found Otto Emilio Ajpacaja-Cua, 39, stabbed in the chest and thigh around 4:25 a.m. at the corner of 184th Street and Jamaica Avenue. He was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.

On Friday, a shooting outside a Bed-Stuy housing project left one teen dead and another injured.

Dontea (Ted) Bascom, was shot in the groin around 7:15 p.m. on Friday, and later died at Kings County Hospital.

Bascom’s cousin, Michael Parnell, was shot as well, but is expected to survive.
