Staten Island bank robber claims he has bomb: NYPD

The man entered the bank Tuesday afternoon threatening to blow himself up, police said.

A Staten Island bank was held up by a robber posing as a bomber Tuesday, police said.

At 3:20 p.m. a man with a nude-colored stocking over his head and carrying a white bag went into the Richmond County Savings Bank at 879 Amboy Rd. , yelling that he had a bomb and threatening to blow himself up if he didn't get some money fast, police said.

The robber went up to a teller and demanded cash, specifically 50- and 100-dollar bills, and was handed $7,800 and fled, police said.

The suspect was last seen heading north on Amboy Road.
