At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Monday, a 71-year-old woman was attacked by a stranger sitting across from her on a 6 train as it approached the Bleecker Street station, ABC reported. The unknown man got out of his seat and slashed her face, leaving a 4-inch gash across her left cheek.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, CBS reported, adding that police are still searching for the suspect.
The suspect, described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic man aged 18 to 20, was wearing red pants and black sneakers, ABC stated. At Bleecker Street, he got on a southbound D train.
