A subway rider had her face slashed in a random attack aboard a downtown 6 train.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Monday, a 71-year-old woman was attacked by a stranger sitting across from her on a 6 train as it approached the Bleecker Street station, ABC reported. The unknown man got out of his seat and slashed her face, leaving a 4-inch gash across her left cheek.

This incident is one of several recent face-slashing attacks to take place in New York. Last month, a woman was attacked in a Chelsea face-slashing, and a teenager had her face slashed in a Whitestone, Queens, assault.
