Summer Streetsis back for three consecutive Saturdays in August. Nearly seven miles of New York’s streets will be closed to vehicles and opened for people to run, walk, bike and partake in various activities including a 270-foot water slide and a 165-foot-long, 30-foot-high zipline.

The annual celebration extends from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, along Park Avenue and connecting streets. There will be five rest stops throughout: Foley Square, SoHo, Astor Place, Midtown and Uptown. Each stop will feature a different activity. Get your workout on at SoHo, bring your dog along to Astor Place and grab some Whole Foods samples in Midtown.

Last year, more than 300,000 people partook in Summer Streets. All activities are free of charge.Online pre-registration is required to ride the slide and for the zipline participants are encouraged to arrive at the Foley Square Rest Stop before 8 a.m. to register and obtain a slot.

Summer Streets will be held between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m on August 1, 8 and 15.
