A Bronx man has been arrested on murder charges after allegedly shooting two men in a public housing elevator in the Melrose neighborhood.

Police responded to the Morrisania Houses, at 3125 Park Ave., just before 11 a.m. on Monday. Officers found two men shot in the head, one time each, in an elevator. The men, who were pronounced dead at Lincoln Medical Center, were later identified as Darryl Page, 26, and Tykquan Fennell, 23, both of the Bronx.

Police said Tuesday that Willie Stukes, 44, has been arrested on two counts of second-degree murder.

Witnesses told several media outlets, including the New York Times, they believed the men had been killed in retaliation for sitting on the suspect’s car’s bumper.
