Takeru Kobayashi eats Chicago: Famed eating champ to end Cubs billy goat

The greatest competitive eater in the history of the world (sorry, Joey Chestnut), Takeru Kobayashi, will attempt to single-handedly end the Chicago Cubs’ “Curse of the Billy Goat” Tuesday night when he devours what he hopes will be an entire goat.

The six-time winner of the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest plans to inhale a 40-pound cooked goat in one sitting at Lincoln Square’s “Taco in a Bag,” according to NBC Chicago.

Why the goat hate? The Cubs haven’t won a World Series since 1908 and much of the blame for the drought is said to have come from an incident in 1945 in which the owner of the Billy Goat Tavern, Billy Sianis, was asked to leave a Cubs World Series game at Wrigley Field because the billy goat he attended the game with was bothering other Cubs fans.

“The Cubs ain’t gonna win no more!,” Sianiswas said to have said as he exited Wrigley.

As for Kobayashi, Chicago has become something of a second home to him after he was banished from Coney Island. In the above video from 2012, he ate five giant Italian Beef sandwiches in a minute-and-a-half at the Tribune Tower.
