Teen beaten in alleged gang attack on L train

Police are looking for a group of men who beat a teenager unconscious and stole his pants, sneakers and cell phone after first confronting him on the L train in Brooklyn.

The attack started around 3:27 p.m. on Friday on a southbound L train near the Broadway Junction station in East New York, when a group of five men questioned the 16yearold victim about what gang he was in.

When the teen said he wasn’t in a gang, the group of men started punching and kicking him, and pulled him off the train at the Atlantic Avenue stop, according to the NYPD, where they knocked him unconscious and stole his cell phone, sneakers and jeans before fleeing.

A bystander captured the attack on video, and the Daily News reported that concerned commuters gave the teen water and consoled him after the attack.

The teen was taken to Brookdale Hospital and treated for a concussion and severe eye injury.

Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or submit their tip online.
