Two people have been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run that left a 7-year-old West New York girl dead and her mother injured.
Charges are pending against the arrested twosome, whose names have not released, NBC reported.
The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office has planned an official announcement regarding the arrest for Tuesday, ABC stated, adding that a makeshift memorial for Sheyla Pichardo, the 7-year-old victim, has been put together near the corner where the hit-and-run took place.
"My heart is destroyed with what happened to my daughter," Javier Pichardo, the girl's father, said to NBC. "I didn't think this could happen to me or my wife."
The girl's mother was injured in the hit-and-run but is expected to survive, according to ABC.
