Two people were killed early Sunday after their car crashed into scaffolding and burst into flames.
The 2001 Nissan Maxima was traveling east on Grand Central Parkway around 4:26 a.m. when the driver lost control and slammed into the scaffolding in front of Thomas Edison High School in Jamaica, police said. The car caught on fire with both the driver and passenger still inside.
The victims, who have not been identified, were found unconscious with severe burns. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
