A young East Harlem girl was nearly sexually assaulted as she slept in her own home, police said.
The 8-year-old victim was sleeping at her residence near East 108th Street and First Avenue on July 7 when she was attacked, policesaid.
Just after 11 p.m. that night the child was awakened by an unidentified man — described as Hispanic, in his 20s, with black shoulder length hair and “acne-like skin.” He then allegedly tried to rape her before fleeing the home through a bedroom window and out a rear fire escape. The girl was unharmed.
