With shootings and murders up, NYC turns to high-tech gunfire tracker

NYPD Commissoner will detail high-tech gunfire tracker Monday.

NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton Monday afternoon will announce the 15 neighborhoods that will get new trial “Shot Spotter” technology to better keep tabs on a rising number of shootings.

NY1’s Dean Meminger reports: "It's a system made of multiple sensors that can detect the sound of gunshots and pinpoint where the shots were fired. The system can also alert cops about gunfire even when no one calls 911.”

The Shot Spotter program will be a pilot one
