A 24-year-old Long Island woman faces a charge of attempted murder of a police officer for allegedly shooting a plainclothes New York City detective in the head with a pellet gun.

Tiara Ferebee, of Riverhead, is accused to shooting the air gun at the officer late Wednesday afternoon as he drove past her in an unmarked car in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, investigators said.

The detective was struck in the forehead and treated for the wound at Jamaica Hospital, NBC 4 New York reported.

Ferebee was arrested Saturday. In addition to attempted murder, she is charged with assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon and reckless endangerment, police said.

There was no indication that Ferebee had obtained a lawyer who could comment about the charges on her behalf.
