A woman who went into labor at a Brooklyn subway stop Sunday night had to give birth to her baby on the sidewalk, according to published reports.

The dramatic delivery began at the Clark Street station in Brooklyn Heights at 5:30 p.m, a witness told the New York Daily News. Cops and EMT workers found the woman laid out on a piece of cardboard just outside the stop, where they delivered her child.

A crowd had gathered, and celebrated the baby’s safe delivery, the Daily News said.

“A lot of people were happy, cheering and clapping,” Doug Levine, 56, who works at a nearby liquor store told the paper.

The unidentified mother and son were taken to Brooklyn Hospital in good condition, according to the New York Post.
