Woman, 42, in critical after pinned between cabs in Midtown.


A 42-year-old woman who was putting her luggage in the back of a yellow cab was in critical in Bellevue Monday after a second taxi ran into her, pinning her between the vehicles.


It was 6 a.m. when the second cab slammed into her on 7th Ave near 50th Street, causing traumatic leg injuries.


Both drivers stayed on scene; the woman is expected to survive. No charges have been filed.


Report: 21 yo may be charged with Valentine’s Day slay of Kew Gardens man.

The Valentine’s Day death of a 56-year-old Kew Gardens man has been re-classified as a homicide -- and a 21-year-old is in custody in connection with the killing.

Queens cops found Kevin Lopyan unconscious and unresponsive inside his Queens home at 141-27 77th Avenue suffering trauma.

The Daily News identified the man being held as Popal Rahmatullah and said he now faces murder charges.

The day of Lopyan’s death, Rahmatullah told cops he asked the victim for money and when he was refused, returned later and broke in, The News said.
Rahmatullah had the victim’s ring and credit card on him when cops picked him up; he has already been charged with robbery, burglary and criminal possession of stolen property, sources told The News.

Rahmatullah, worked for Lopyan, has told investigators that when the older man hit on him, the two started fighting. Soon after, the victim was dead on the floor.

The News reports: “Rahmatullah was previously charged with robbery and criminal possession of marijuana.”

Brooklyn woman, 89, succombs in smoky Bay Ridge house fire

An 89-year-old Brooklyn woman died in a smoky blaze in her two-story Bay Ridge home, officials said Monday.

Kathryn Johnson was found unconscious Sunday inside 546 77th St. in Bay Ridge.

She later died at Lutheran Medical Center.

The FDNY is investigating.
