The Yankees will tangle with the Houston Astros Tuesday (8 p.m., ESPN) at Yankee Stadium in a one-game wild card playoff game.
The winner will advance to face the AL Central champion Royals. The Yankees will hand Masahiro Tanaka the ball Tuesday against Houston. Tanaka gave up four runs in five innings last Wednesday against the Red Sox after missing a pair of starts due to a hamstring injury.
Elsewhere in MLB, the Cubs will play at the Pirates a night later (8 p.m., TBS) in the NL wild card game. The Rangers won the AL West Sunday and will face the Blue Jays while the Mets will host the Dodgers. The Royals and Cards will await the wild card winners in each respective league.
