On June 8 at about 2:50 p.m. the 11-year-old victim was walking home from school when she was approached by the suspect near Highlawn Avenue and West 7th Street, authorities said.

The man grabbed the girl by her shoulder and school bag and then told her to go with him, police said. However, the girl was able to fight the suspect off and the man ran away.
