It’s not often you get to meet someone who helped shape your childhood, but that’s exactly what you have the chance to do next week at the 92nd Street Y. The venue is hosting an event with best-selling author Judy Blume and “The Daily Show”‘s Samantha Bee.

But even more exciting than talking about her 1970s hit YA books such as “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret?” and “Blubber,” is what Blume will be revealing about her new book, “In The Unlikely Event,” which is one of the most anticipated releases of the summer.

The book — geared toward adults this time — is an intergenerational family drama based loosely on the true events of a series of plane crashes that occured between 1951 and 1952. Blume was a teenager at the time of the plane crashes, which all occurred in her homestate of New Jersey. The book follows various loved ones whose lives changed drastically after the crashes.

The event is taking place June 2 at 8 p.m. Click here for more information or to buy tickets.
