100,000 more set to get the Blues

With only three days left to take in one of the biggest music festivals in North America, Lebreton Flats Park will be packed through the weekend, with an estimated 100,000 people on festival grounds.

According to Ottawa Bluesfest executive director Mark Monahan, there’s a slew of bands to make the crowds worthwhile.

“Friday night is shaping up to be a big night with Great Big Sea and Drake,” he said. “And on Saturday, we’re expecting a huge crowd for Keith Urban and Kevin Costner.”

Weezer is the headliner on Sunday, but there’s also a lot of interest in Jimmy Cliff, who’s playing the Claridge Homes Stage, he said.

The biggest shows so far were for Santana and Iron Maiden, but The Flaming Lips put on “one of the most visually pleasing shows we’ve had,” Monahan said.
