11 drug overdoses treated at Calgary rave

Eleven people were treated for drug overdoses after Calgary Emergency Services broke up a rave in the deep northwest late Saturday evening, according to police.

Approximately 25 Calgary Police Service units, along with Calgary Fire Department and EMS services, were sent to the 14500 block of Symons Valley Rd. NW around 11 p.m. Saturday, after reports of disturbances and of drug overdoses at a party police believe may have had as many as 2,500 people in attendance.

According to police, the large response affected the police response throughout the city.

Rave organizers and the Calgary Police shut the party down for safety reasons and being over capacity of the event facility. No arrests were made.

District 7 officers are investigating.
