2 men killed in stabbings

Two Lower Mainland men, both in their early 20s, have died after two separate stabbings early yesterday morning.

Tyson Montgomery Edwards, 21, from Burnaby, was rushed to hospital in Vancouver after being stabbed outside Richard’s on Richards nightclub around 2:30 a.m.

Two Facebook memorial groups were started within hours of Edwards’ death and friends posted messages remembering him as kind and popular.

Edwards’ father, Tyson Kilmer, told CBC News his son was kind and well loved, and will be greatly missed, especially by his mother and younger sister and brother.

He said he forgives whoever killed Edwards, adding this is a reminder for parents to cherish their children.

Vancouver police Const. Tim Fanning said Edwards was found unconscious on the sidewalk near the entrance to the club.

“We have limited information on the three suspects involved in the incident,” Fanning said.

He added that Edwards was likely the victim of a random attack.

The second stabbing happened in Richmond just after midnight.

The victim, a 23-year-old Richmond man, was found on the front lawn of a home and taken to hospital, where he died, said RCMP Cpl. Dale Carr.

His name has not been released.

“Investigators … are speaking to two males that were arrested and thought to be associated with this incident,” Carr said.
