With summer almost in full bloom, Metro offers five spots for
travellers who are looking to party well into the wee hours of the
night.

St. Tropez, France

The party: Sip on a cocktail as you dip you toes in the water at über glamorous Nikki Beach (www.nikkibeach.com)
and watch the sun go down before making your way to Les Caves du Roy
the crème de la crème of night time follies. Baroque columns, gold
brocade, and isn’t that Paris Hilton.

Hangover Haven: Last night’s crowd hides behind oversized shades as sip café au lait at le Café Sénéquier on Quai Jean Jaurès (www.senequier.com).

New York City

The party:
The bartenders at Little Branch (Leroy Street) create killer cocktails.
A Corpse Reviver No. 2 (lemon, absinthe, gin, Cointreau and Liliet
Blanc) will set the party mood. Persistence is key if you want to get
into the Big Apple’s best clubs. Best bet is the Cafeteria on 7th
Avenue. Open all night, this is a quirky and cool lounge bar where you
can chill or party.

Hangover Haven: Gather your fellow
sleep-deprived friends and head for brunch at Bouchon Bakery. The pecan
sticky bun — a doughy brioche topped with brown sugar and a pyramid of
pecan nuts is divine.

Berlin

The party: Drink beer at White Trash (www.whitetrashfastfood.com), an eclectic mix between a steamy cabaret and tattoo parlor. Let the mayhem continue at Berghain (www.berghain.de). Decadent, illicit and devoid of all sexual inhibitions, this is a revelers delight.

Hangover Haven: De-tox at Badeschiff (www.arena-berlin.de/badeschiff). Part swimming pool part sauna, this converted river barge is the meeting point for the bold and beautiful Berliners.

Stockholm, Sweden

The party:
Don’t expect the nightlife to be a 24-hour debauchery in Sweden, it’s
more about playing it cool. Things get bubbling at P.A & Co, a
funky brasserie loved by the hip media crowd before hitting Café Opera (www.cafeopera.se). A tearoom by day, the club-like bar, Operabaren, is Stockholm’s busiest and it’s all about the disco.

Hangover Haven:
Depå’s (Smålandsgatan 10) Snickers bar in a tart is possibly the best
post-party guilty pleasure. Go sweat out the night’s excesses with a
sauna at Hasseluden Yasuragi (www.yasuragi.se).

Buenos Aires, Argentina

The party: The magnificent belle époque Café Tortoni (cafetortoni.com.ar) perfectly sums up Buenos Aires’s eclectic mix of cultures, from feverish tango to fine dining. Niceto Club (www.nicetoclub.com) is considered the trendiest hangout in town with live music and dance tunes.

Hangover Haven:
Olsen’s (Gorriti 5870) uncluttered 1960s style interior is quickly
filled when ravenous filmmakers, producers and expatriates flock in for
Sunday brunch. Sixty types of vodkas and a Scandinavian flavor menu.
