Halifax Regional Police charged 45 people with impaired driving last month, eight of which resulted in collisions.

Police say in every case, the driver was impaired by alcohol. Charges were laid against 38 men and seven women ranging in age from 19 to 72. Police also handed out five 24-hour suspensions.

Of the 45 incidents investigated by police, they say 16 were called in by concerned citizens.

The Halifax RCMP said last week they charged 17 people with impaired-driving offences for February.
