A 5-ton snow dump

It was one of the five most concentrated dumps of snow in Calgary’s history.

For the fifth year running, Sunshine Village plopped five tons of snow on Stephen Avenue yesterday, a chilly reminder that while spring is certainly in the air and the grass is greening, the Banff-based ski resort has an abundance of snow still and ski conditions couldn’t be better.

“With all the warm weather, seeing people driving around on motorbikes and convertibles, they don’t realize there’s so much snow still on the mountains,” said Sunshine Village’s Mike Moynihan.

With AC/DC tribute band BC/DC lined up for free concerts May 17-19 as well as the resort’s 80th annual Slush Cup Moynihan hopes Calgarians will keep Sunshine Village in mind when they head out for the May long weekend.
