Signature Drink: Martini

There’s a touch of elegance on Ochterloney Street. Nectar has a stunning lounge downstairs and a larger seating area upstairs. Several people enjoy a leisurely Friday lunch.

My pal orders Soup of the Day ($7) — a delicious spicy sundried tomato soup with jalapeno and tortilla chips — followed by a delicious Spicy Halibut ($15) seared and marinated. On the side is fresh and attractive Pear Cashew Salad — Bosc pears and organic greens with toasted cashews and Asian vinaigrette.

Our sweet potato fries ($4) are disappointingly dry and overcooked, so we only eat a few. The server kindly takes them off the bill.

My Warm Spinach Salad ($5 as a side dish), organic baby spinach with smoked bacon, boiled egg and balsamic dressing, is perfect. I wouldn’t order the Lamb Burger ($10) again. Even though it is served with spinach, feta and red onion, the meat is dense.

We shouldn’t have room for dessert but who can say no to the day’s special chocolate Crème Caramel ($8) with a wine reduction. Oh yum. Nectar is sweet indeed.
