The more do-it-yourself minded foodies might prefer to skip the crowds and dine at home.

To help, the Calphalon Culinary Center in downtown Toronto is offering a Winterlicious demonstration class to help plan and execute a gourmet three-course meal. The key is to “prepare ahead,” explains Gerard Capellan, manager at the center.

“Get the prep done if it can be done the day before,” Capellan said.


He also recommends trying out a recipe three times before serving it to guests, to make sure you’re comfortable with it. But, he says, the most important to remember is “as long as you don’t kill anybody, it’s just food.”
