Simple forms and a clean, unadorned style can go a long way to empowering a modern look.
The model suite at Eleven Superior, located on the Mimico waterfront, makes contemporary design its focus with a space that feels both individual and warm without sacrificing style or cosmopolitan appeal.
Interior designer Jenny Lee aimed the one-bedroom model suite’s design towards a sense of suburban sophistication with modern elements that can cater to both professionals as well as families.
The key was keeping things basic and unpretentious to allow people’s personal tastes to shine through while adding just the right kinds of accents to make the space feel inviting.
“I wanted to create something simple, modern, smart and unique by seamlessly catering to each individual lifestyle. We kept the colour palette neutral with browns and accents of blue and white — while a neutral palette is important adding a few accent pieces really warms up the space,” Lee said.
White-toned quartz countertops and mocha brown laminate flooring —both standard options in similar units — and furniture with strong, simple angles all work to embolden the unadorned look.
“Nowadays people like to have that eclectic feel so we like to keep furniture in simple lines and forms to allow people to create character themselves in a space,” Lee said.
