Debt-burdened AbitibiBowater Inc. said Thursday it will continue daily operations and meet its payroll as it restructures under bankruptcy protection from creditors in Canada and the United States, refusing to comment on job cuts.
A spokesperson said the company will not be making severance payments to about 800 workers laid off after AbitibiBowater recently closed its Grand Falls-Windsor, N.L., operation.
