Action at rodeo finals ‘white-knuckled’

Buckin’ broncos and belt buckles kicked off the 2009 Canadian Finals Rodeo yesterday at Rexall Place.

Opening night action of the 36th annual CFR brought out thousands of cowboys and cowgirls to take in the rodeo thrills and spills.

“Every night is different at CFR, every opening ceremony is different,” said Sandra Pysklywyc, manager of public relations for Northlands.

With a few new events this year, such as exciting anthem singers and family day, fans will not be disappointed.

“For those who have never been, come out and enjoy the white-knuckled and adrenaline-packed action,” said Pysklywyc.

Rodeo fan Barry Jones from Tofield has been taking in CFR action for many years and is excited about this year’s action, especially the bareback and bull riding.

“It is always good on opening night,” said Jones from his second row seat.

Tickets are still available for remaining five performances of bucking good fun with $1.27 million in prize money up for grabs.
